Abstract:
Growing old is a part of life. Usually starting at 60 years of age, it is often considered
to be the start of declining health and quality of life. Even though elderly people make
up 7% of the population in Pakistan, there is almost no knowledge or understanding
in our society, of the problems that old age brings with it, and the toll it takes on the
mental and physical health of the elderly.
This documentary aims to show how our elderly experience life, in hopes of making
people more empathetic towards their problems and needs. For this purpose, the
documentary follows the story of our main subject, 73-year-old Mrs. Salma Tufail,
who narrates her story and tells the audience of the many hurdles she must overcome
daily, simply to be able to live her life.
Along with our main subject, the documentary takes help from many experts and
specialists who present their in-depth analysis regarding the problems faced by the
elderly in Pakistan, and what we can do to help them make their lives a little better.
I hope that through this documentary, people build an understanding and empathy for
their elderly, so that we can help them live their last phase of life, with a sense of
peace
