dc.description.abstract Microwave photonic filter (MPF) has been a topic of interest for many years because of various advantages including large operational bandwidth, wide ranging tunability, less losses and immunity to electromagnetic interference. These features are difficult to realize in electronic domain. MPF can be imple mented in coherent and in-coherent regime, but coherent regime is severely limited by environmental conditions hence in-coherent regime is preferred. MPF in in-coherent regime is based on multiple wavelengths and dispersive element, however it is not a practical approach to use a separate laser source for each tap. To resolve this issue, single continues wave (CW) based gen eration of multiple wavelengths are used. In this thesis we have proposed an optimal and low-cost way of generating multiple wavelengths via modu lating RF signal with optical carrier along with optical carrier suppression technique. We have validated our technique using 3 and 4 taps microwave photonic filter which are mentioned in Result section. en_US
