Rawalpindi has recently borne the brunt of dengue fever. During the year 2015, the city
reportedly experienced over three thousand infections, resulting in the loss of six lives,
making it the worst hit city in Punjab. This study aimed to explore the habitat
distribution of dengue vectors in two spatially distinct urban environments. The chosen
study area included Ayub Park, a popular urban park with lakes and dense vegetation,
along with the neighboring Gulistan colony, a densely populated residential settlement
bounded by Lai Nullah. Ovitrap field sampling was carried out to obtain primary data
on vector occurrence. |
