STRUCTURAL INVESTIGATION FOR LOCATING PETROLEUM RESERVOIRS USING GEOINFORMATICS IN MEYAL, POTWAR REGION, PAKISTAN

Abstract

Pakistan has been blessed with potential reserves of natural resources including petroleum reservoirs. Seismic surveys are carried out for structural and petroleum exploration. Seismic survey and corresponding well log exhibit different variables processable in GIS for stratigraphic and structure geological modeling. The objective of this research work was to investigate subsurface geological structures using GIS by integrating into seismic surveys for locating petroleum prospects in active thrust belt of Meyal, Potwar region, Pakistan.
