Abstract:
Camera unit of Fire control Radar is an essential assembly of Electro-Optical System (EOS)
in Radar, which is responsible for optical Target Tracking by means of elevation, azimuth. The
Fault Trend of camera assembly is 10-15% of total reporting faults whereas 30% of
maintenance and adjustments are required. Repair and Maintenance of aforesaid complex
designed assembly proved to be difficult and time consuming. There are many factors which
are directly effecting the Radar System, such as Cost effect (price of camera module unit is
greater than 0.14Mn USD, delivery period (DP > 18 months), Repair time and unavailability
of essential components. The objective of this research is to indigenously Integration of CCD
camera module of camera unit for the optical tracking mode of fire control radar. The existing
assembly consists of CCD camera module, filter unit, zooming optics and Synchronization
system. CCD camera module produces highly sensitive black and white video at Consultative
Committee for International Radio (CCIR) standards. CCD sensor is based on size 11mm
diagonal with 2/3” format. Synchronization system provides synchronization signals i.e.
horizontal frequency (15625 Hz), Vertical frequency (50 Hz) and Blanking Pulse.
Zooming/filter optics provides desired level of Tracking during various environments. By
integration of available camera with same parameters, matching of focal length and
synchronization signal, goal can be achieved. This Indigenous solution will save huge amount
of Foreign Exchange (FE) and Time.
