Abstract:
Wireless communication is fastest growing industry as it provides access to users located
anywhere in the world through just one click. Internet and cellular phone are basic requirement of
every individual now and they demand high data rates, low latency, high accuracy, better quality
of service and much more. These demands raise challenges in wireless communication system
because signal is travelling through medium where signal quality is tarnished by haphazard fades,
diffractions and various other performance degrading phenomenon. To meet the demands, we need
technological advancements, so we can alleviate these challenges.
NOMA is emerging technique of 5G that ensures better performance than traditional
multiple access techniques. In a typical NOMA system, users individually communicate with base
station and treat any other user signal as noise. Here the important point be noted that NOMA near
(Strong) users have information of all far (weak). users. In this thesis, we introduced cooperative
communication over strong user to improve performance of weak user in cellular system. MultiUser NOMA with cooperative communication was implemented over AWGN channel and
analyzed. We basically exploited the crux of NOMA that states that strong user has prior
knowledge of weak user with bad channel condition. Strong user was used as relay to improve
performance of weak user via cooperative communication. The above scheme was implemented
for both SISO NOMA system and MIMO NOMA system. BER Curves analyses proved that
performance of weak user laying over the edge in cellular system can be improved via cooperative
communication.
