dc.description.abstract An air conditioning load is considered as one of the major energy consuming loads in residential and commercial sector. It is established that an air conditioning load causes unwanted peaks in load curve making it more suitable for direct load control DLC program, particularly for saving energy consumption. In this work, fuzzy controller is implemented with dierent shapes and number of membership functions with the objective of achieving desired thermal comfort while saving energy consumption. Simulations are conducted in SIMULINK. The fuzzy controller, with increased number of membership functions, achieves desired temperature with 0.9% percentage error and humidity ratio with 6% percentage error. It is proved after calculations that the designed controller is able to save 25% of the annual energy. After comparison with other controlling techniques, it is established that the designed fuzzy controller is better in achieving desired objectives while maintaining human comfort. en_US
