dc.description.abstract Knowledge is a valuable resource and asset. Organizations have recognized that knowledge constitutes a valuable intangible asset for creating and sustaining competitive advantages. The dynamism of the new economy requires us to not only quickly create knowledge, but also to acquire and apply knowledge quickly. One possible way to do so is to share our knowledge effectively. Knowledge sharing is an activity through which knowledge in the form of information, skills, or expertise is exchanged among people, friends, or members of a family, a community or an organization. Knowledge sharing activities are generally supported by knowledge management systems. In fact knowledge sharing is a subpart and key element of knowledge management strategies in organizations. Different types of knowledge are managed and then shared through different ways and mediums for its successful and fruitful practical implementation. This research is quantitative study to determine the extent of knowledge sharing in higher education Institutes, to find out the association between people, processes, tools and technologies being used for the KS, and their individual association with each other. Identification of the factors that can promote the phenomenon of knowledge sharing is also the purpose of this research. A model is proposed and verified by the results of the survey carried out in HEIs of Islamabad Pakistan. en_US
