Abstract:
Supply Chain from its inception, has always been posing question as it embeds complex
business traits at both ends; namely the Buyer and the Supplier. The nature of risks varies from
business to business as hierarchy, Product and Customer class changes accordingly. This thesis
work focuses on a particular Business stream that is Tile industry and evaluates the various
supply chain hazards the company is exposed to with a take up on the remedial actions taken by
the business to address those issues. Since supply chain deals with rather intangible business
climate traits, it is quite hard to devise hard and fast rules for addressing the incepting issues; an
elaborative approach is adopted to design a flexible framework in accordance with the research
survey results those comprised of detailed Questionnaires, Expert Interviews and Case Studies.
In order to get most out of the business, some contemporary practice terminologies are to be
injected into the process accomplishment of the focused industry which is based on the idea of
streamlining the industry processes with Customer on one end and Supplier on another. Just In
time, Concurrent Engineering, Strategic Purchasing, Long Term relationships and Information
handling measures of the target industrial sector are formulated and presented with
recommendations. Leagile Press-Pull streamlining tools such as customization and niche
marketing, Supplier extended collaboration JIT are under focus in the thesis as well. In short,
The thesis targets upon the gap between demand and practice in Supply chain Risk Mitigation
and follows up on recommendatory steps by formulating a guiding framework.
