Abstract:
In developing countries like Pakistan, the OHS conditions are not up to optimum level or
even close to it because of many factors such as insufficient medical facilities, illiterate
uneducated workforce and lack of enforcement of laws regarding these issues as well as lack
of specified independent laws on these matters. As a result of this total economic losses due
to work-related diseases and injuries are huge. To reduce these losses, a realization of
importance of safety is necessary. A generic framework will help industries to implement
safety in their organizations and reap the fruits of a safe and healthy workplace
This study examines the safety culture of manufacturing industries in Pakistan. The concept
of Safety Culture is quite limited in Pakistan and the number of occupational and industries
accidents are high and remain unnoticed. Keeping in view this situation, the study is

analyzed using descriptive as well as statistical methods. The research on this topic will result
in the analysis of the safety culture of manufacturing industries of Pakistan and a generic
framework designed to help the industries employ safety to their businesses and process at
every level.
