Abstract:
Today the biggest debate of time is how to reduce energy consumption, and this
is particularly important for process industry like cement. In order to reduce the
energy consumption by the cement industry different techniques such as waste
heat recovery are used, but unfortunately these techniques are not being
implemented in Pakistan.
In this thesis the benefits of installation of waste heat recovery has been
explained with the help of literature. First overview of Pakistani cement
industry in comparison with the present global cement industry has been given.
Then survey of whole cement industry of Pakistan is done to analyze
installation of waste heat recovery in Pakistan and to answer two important
research question i.e. what will be the impact on Pakistani cement industry by
the installation of waste heat recovery, and what are the basic hurdles due to
which cement manufacturers of Pakistan are not installing it. In the end to
support my results an original case study of Pakistan cement plant has been
discussed, along with its design parameters to shown how much benefit can be
achieved by the installation of waste heat recovery. Moreover it has also been
shown that if all of the cement manufactures of Pakistan install waste heat
recovery then how much benefit can be achieved from this technique.
