Abstract:
Cloud computing services provide the use of internet, applications, software and data storage on
third party server. Objectives of the research are to implement cloud computing model for SMEs
of Pakistan. The major attention is given to supply chain management and a model is proposed
for implementing cloud computing services for supply chain management in SMEs of Pakistan.
The benefit of using cloud computing model is that there is no cost of infrastructure for SMEs,
they will only pay for the services they will use so this will give them strength and competition
in the business.
Organizations are using supply chain management (SCM) for competing in the business
processes; new strategies of global supply chain management are implementing to achieve the
competitive advantage. It is difficult for companies to survive individually; they must be part of
some other company or network of companies. It is necessary for companies of developing
countries to improve their supply chain strategy because now they have to enter in international
market and with former domestic strategies it will be difficult for them to survive. To maintain a
position in the international market use of IT is the essential requirement in their supply chain
methods, this will improve their business strengths.
The services included in the supply chain processes are, customer relation management,
improving delivery management, inventory control, cost control, supplier management,
enterprise asset management, etc. Improving these services will improve the overall business
value. Under this research the importance of IT, usage of IT, barriers for implementation of IT,
use of Cloud computing services, benefits of Cloud computing services, role of Supply chain
management and importance of using Cloud computing service for supply chain management in
SMEs of developing countries like Pakistan. Cloud computing services can manage the SMEs of
Pakistan to work under one platform which will provide them the required services. For the
development and implementation of cloud computing model for SMEs of Pakistan, the major
support is required from the Government of Pakistan.
