Mobile ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) are becoming increasingly popular as a type
of wireless networks. Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) is widely used as a protocol for
data transfer in MANETS. In this thesis, performance of DSR protocol is improved by
optimizing routing overhead. Analytically it is proved that reducing control messages
results in efficient utilization of available bandwidth and hence better performance.
Finally performance of the modified DSR is compared with other routing protocols being
widely used in MANETs like conventional DSR, Ad-hoc On demand Distance Vector
(AODV) and Destination sequenced Distance Vector (DSDV).
