Abstract:
Android platform is emerging with impressive impact in the growing market of
mobile devices. These devices are capable of holding an enormous amount of
information. E-commerce is one of the major categories needs to be focused by
forensic investigators. Shopping on your smartphones has never been easier
whether you have to do weekly grocery or finding the latest clothes. This new
technology has enabled us to buy whatever we want sitting in our homes. With
the increase of business in e-commerce, there is an increase in threats.
Computer hacker aims to access the sensitive information related to credit cards
when it comes to merchants and service providers who usually process this
information. While e-shopping business is growing rapidly still there are
predominant concerns for the security of financial and personal information
online. This focus of this research is identification and classification of data
remnants left in the android mobile device using online shopping applications.
The artifacts collected from applications will be presented in the form of
taxonomy which will assist forensics investigators to have a better insight to
these applications.
