dc.description.abstract This document carefully describes the complete system of AVI to MPEG-1 conversion. The ins and outs of video encoding the different terminologies the different techniques and the algorithms are explained. At first the complete system of video encoding is explained that how it is done. Different terms and technologies that you will hear in the field of video encoding are explained. Then description of AVI and MPEG-1 is given. After that the complete system is explained that how an AVI is converted to MPEG-1 format, what are the compression algorithms and how they improve compression. DCT is one of the most famous coding algorithm is explained and it is also mentioned that how DCT is performed at the hardware level. Different results for AVI to MPEG-1 conversion are analyzed and a conclusion is drawn i.e. whether to use a specialized hardware for the purpose or not. At the end different recommendations to improve the system are given are given. en_US
