dc.description.abstract ABSTRACT The study was undertaken for the economical and environmental feasible management of Marble industry wastes. The study methodology involved site 'visits, collection of information related to waste production, personal interviews on waste management, characterization and treatment of marble wastewater, utilization of marble slurry in bricks formation and literature review for the effective solid and liquid waste management. The results of the study revealed that by installation of settling tanks for recycling of Marble industry wastewater we can save 344000 litres/day of water from a single standard cutting unit in a country like Pakistan which is running over 3000 cutting units. Also the settled Marble slurry can effectively be utilized for the preparation of low cost medium quality bricks, which can help marble industry in earning money in spite of investing for proper disposal of solid wastes. Similarly Marble pieces of relatively larger sizes can be used for different construction activities in spite of disposing and wasting in to the land. en_US
