Abstract:
A cost-effective and durable electric vehicle model has been developed to effectively meet the needs of both rural and urban environments. To evaluate its performance and capabilities, two standardized driving cycles—the world-wide harmonized light-duty test cycle and the new European driving cycle—have been utilized. The proposed work has focused on designing an energy-efficient brushless direct current motor specifically for this vehicle, ensuring its reliable and smooth operation. By taking into account the specifications of the Renault Twingo Electric model, including its wheels and battery, the performance metrics of the designed vehicle have been calculated for both test cycles. The power and torque generated by the suggested model during the test cycles are lower compared to the Renault model. As a result, a smaller and more cost-effective motor can be used in the suggested model. It is worth noting that the worldwide harmonized light- duty test cycle produces higher power and torque compared to the new European driving cycle. Consequently, the motor required for the new European driving cycle is smaller and less expensive when compared to the one needed for the world-wide harmonized
light-duty test cycle.
