dc.description.abstract Android Apps can be termed as trend setters in World Smartphone Apps industry because of their open source nature. “Steady Driver” is an Android based driver evaluation application intended to monitor drivers’ or anyone’s driving skills based on various factors, rating them, and keeping a track of speed and other elements. The application has some major modules which will contribute in defining important utilities of this application. These include: Rate the driver, Calculate sudden speed reduction (brakes) applied by a drive, Calculate acceleration and speed, Intervals during journey, and Bumpiness during the drive. These are some of the key parameters that will be evaluated during any journey and at the end of the journey driver will be assessed on these parameters. Once the application is started it will start gathering data from Gyroscope, GPS and Accelerometer. Once the journey is over application will start analyzing the data and at the end ratings will be generated for different categories and as a whole driver will be rated either as Bad, Good, Very Good, or Excellent. In the Pro version of this app, all the layout of the travelled path will be shown on map, indicating the places with huge brakes, with high accelerations, and with severe bumps. With user permission, all such data can be gathered for traffic police and road safety agencies to make our roads safer. en_US
