dc.description.abstract A country’s macroeconomic performance is strongly influenced by export price competitiveness assessment among other components. This thesis has attempted to explore the export price competitiveness of Pakistan. Moreover, it analyzes how export price competitiveness is improved by injecting more imported machinery and equipment while allowing imperfect substitution between locally manufactured vs imported machinery. Using the ARDL methodology, it has been found for manufacturing sector that imported machinery results in greater reduction in export prices, hence improve export price competiveness. Beside this investment in R&D and human capital are prerequisite to increase the absorption and adaptation capabilities of imported machinery. It has been found price reducing impact of imported machinery reflected provided there is investment in R&D and human capital. en_US
