dc.description.abstract This work aims to study the production system of a low technology semi-automatic, day-tank glass factory with a view to identify the different types of wastes, suggesting measures for reducing or eliminating these in line with the lean philosophy while recommending the use of a blend of a locally available existing technology and the imported high technology, thus achieving enhanced quality glass products at low cost. It is vital that since, the glass factories operate on low profit margins and survive on the principle of economy of scales, therefore, require the adoption & application of relevant tools & techniques of lean doctrine to this continuous processing enterprise, which though have been distinctly developed for discrete manufacturing. This will not only give a competitive edge by producing the glass products at low costs after elimination of wastes of different types but will also improve the credibility among the local customers en_US
