dc.description.abstract An intelligent strategy is essential to enhance distribution network efficiency in response to the growing electricity demand, particularly when the radial distribution network (RDN) is facing escalating active power losses and voltage instability. Power system planners emphasize the integration of renewable energy resources (RER) into distribution systems as the key solution to address these performance challenges. This paper demonstrates the effectiveness of the ant lion optimizer (ALO), a recently introduced metaheuristic optimization technique, applied to the IEEE 33-bus radial distribution network (RDN) within the MATLAB environment. Through strategic placement and sizing of Distributed Generation (DG) units, the optimized network showcases reduced active power losses, minimized voltage deviation, and improved stability. Comparative analysis with existing literature underscores the exceptional performance of the ant lion optimizer (ALO) algorithm, revealing a remarkable 94.20% reduction in active power losses for the optimal PF mode based on multi-objective optimization. Furthermore, reliability analysis, utilizing ETAP software, explores the impact of different types and numbers of DG units, with wind turbine systems proving superior in enhancing network reliability. en_US
