dc.description.abstract The purpose of thesis project is to provide access to sporting activities in the northern regions of the Pakistan where the interest level of children is very high there is a lack of sporting facilities. The thesis proposes a prototype for sports architecture that can be replicated in different regions based on the representative social, cultural and economic setting. The proposed prototype is tested in a village near Mansehra known as Gandhian that lies at the cusp of multiple towns. The foundation of this prototype is rooted in the synergistic relationships between different users and programs. To ground the sports facility in the context, a program X is added to it which is based on the contextual issues and cultural aspects of the region. It is a community center for women designed not only for attracting users to the facility but with the larger aim of empowering women of the region who are under strict cultural restrictions. The architectural design language focuses on the relationship between physical activity and landscape creating architecture that is derived out of the characteristics of the selected site and program. From the conceptual to the design phase, the project ensures benefits to the community and context by incorporating local materials, design techniques and cultural considerations, so that the design intervention complements the context. The architectural response provided to the issues targeted by the thesis ensures that synergistic relationships are established between every two variables, whether it is two different user groups, or the site and the program or the program and the community. Every individual entity triggers by the functioning of the other. en_US
