Abstract:
This Thesis involves in designing a space to promote the emerging digital era in Pakistan, to design a space for digital filmmaking and media arts that provides an informal learning environment, where the users learn and create art using the latest technology and mediums. It aims to provide a space that helps in keeping up with the digital world by fulfilling its requirements and providing the desired tools, with architecture as a driving tool for stimulating their emotions to release and enhance their creativity.
While watching a movie we are deeply immense in the scenarios, engaging ourselves with its narrative. Representation of architectural intentions play a major role in creating an experiential space to define the journey throughout within the building. As architecture tends to involve human emotions in itself and tends to evoke the experiential connections through its design, likewise in the movie. When the architecture connects emotionally with its users, it defines its whole experience leaving an everlasting impression. This respective topic is concerned with studying the relation between the movie/film and the architecture and how they both tend to evoke experiential connection through their narrative while defining the journey. Both medium uses the same techniques to promote interactive experiences as an expression. The link between them – the narrative event and visual volume – suggests their common link, which is time, movement and frames that are used in both. The narrative techniques involved in the media production process are used to create experiences by using a narrative to develop architectural strategies.
