Sense of place is resonated deep in memory through different means. Memories help put things in perspective and provide our lives with continuity. Soul does not extend backwards to become aware of past experience rather it becomes present to itself. People like to go to places which are familiar to them. In this advancing world, where everyone is in a race, need was to create a place to experience the slow, fluid flow of time and tradition; experience of the visible world in the exploration of the invisible. While searching for the lost tune, the intent is to create a place through purposeful depiction of settings both natural and man-made. The aim is to articulate unspecified awareness of past and temporal duration and a layered sense of time. Unfolding of time and space is populated with childhood memories and stories of eras gone; views out in the landscape create imagined worlds of personal spaces. Intimate and calm spaces inside encourage highly personal conversation. Architecture acts as externalization of memory, also acting as a mediator of our relations with space and time. Mnemonic practice is used as a design methodology. The intangible aspect of the concept deals with incorporating of sensory elements that refresh their memories. Surveys and questionnaires helped to formulate the design strategies and programs for the intergenerational hub. In this thesis it will be explored that how imaginative remembrance of past through architectural elements help a certain user find relevance and regain productivity. |
