Abstract:
The aim of the project is to facilitate visually impaired persons. The visually impaired
population faces numerous challenges in their daily lives, relying heavily on assistance from
others to perform simple tasks.
This project involves creating an AI-based system that provides assistance to visually impaired
individuals. The system is designed to be compact and easy to use, and can recognize common
objects, perform facial recognition, and convert text to speech.
The proposed system consists of a wearable device equipped with a camera, microphone, and
tactile input/output interface. The camera captures the visual input, which is then processed
using computer vision algorithms to identify objects, people, and text in the user's vicinity.
Simultaneously, the microphone is used to communicate with the user through voice.
The project also aims to explore the domains of signal processing and machine learning, while
also enhancing teamwork and project management skills. If successful, the system has the
potential to significantly improve the lives of visually impaired individuals by providing them
with greater independence and accessibility.
