dc.description.abstract The research therefore aims at assessing the impact and the potential problems of Integrated Border Management System (IBMS) in the Chamman Border. Consequently, the study will seek to determine the extent to which IBMS enhances border crossing and administrative actions given the levels of security measures and level of cross border activities. A cross sectional qualitative research was carried out, with 44 participants, including members from oversight committees. The research outcome shows that despite rose of the formality and security of crossing borders through the intervention of the IBMS, there are still issues within the cross-border mobility for people such as those with low literacy levels and those with very strong social ties across the borders. From the themes identified, it was agreed that the following need to be adopted to enhance implementation of IBMS: user education to ensure consistency in its use, proper communication between the border management authority, and strong support systems. With the aid of the study, it is recommended that to fully realize the potential of IBMS, multi-layered policy cooperation at the different tiers of government as well as with thinking partners within the financial institutions and civil society organizations. The research suggests an increase in educational programs and improving the communication measures for increasing the efficiency of IBMS. This research examines the system and provides a basis for understanding the border management systems; and also provides a view about how to enhance e-governance in Chamman Border and other border check-posts. en_US
