dc.description.abstract This study explores the multivarious factors that contribute to illegal migration. Drawing from Douglas Massey's and Ali Nobil's work, the research sheds light on the role of labour markets, gender roles and societal expectations that often compel young men to undertake such perilous journeys. This study also elucidates the misleading cultural portrayals in media that further fuels the desire for migration, fostering false hopes that turn into challenges upon arrival in destination countries. The study employs qualitative research techniques that includes interviews from victims, their families and government officials. Key findings of the research reveal that economic pressures, gender roles, media influences, procedural complexities and psychological impacts contribute to motivations and experience of migrants. By shedding light on the complex vulnerabilities, the research aims to address root causes of illegal migration and inform policy recommendations that enhance support mechanisms for individuals and communities. en_US
