Abstract:
The quantitative analysis of climate change news through YouTube analysed the user
engagement of Pakistani viewers with climate change content broadcast by three locally
owned, and three foreign-owned channels. The period of 2022 till 2022, was studied in the
form of YouTube channel videos reporting incidents of climate change. While domestic
channels’ content created politicised engagement, foreign channels’ content raised citizen
concerns about the phenomenon. The comments, likes, and views were analysed
quantitatively for numeric engagement, and qualitative, for the type of engagement
occurring. Foreign-owned news channels were more engaged with climate change as an
issue, than local channels.
