dc.description.abstract The project revolves around the lack of recreational facilities for the youth in the city of Islamabad. The city lacks places which one can visit daily that can provide them with a distraction from their busy routines, help them relax and participate in activities that have a positive impact on their physical and mental well-being. The lack of these activities on a city level has confined the youth to their homes and they must spend their free time playing video and mobile games, which results in a sedentary lifestyle that is harmful for the overall development of the mind and body. The aim of the thesis is to provide a place for youth where they can spend their free time in a manner that promotes creativity and cognitive development, boosts their confidence, and ensures a healthy lifestyle. Different surveys and interviews will be conducted with the youth and parents to include programs that interests them as well as qualitative research will be conducted to achieve better understanding of design of recreational spaces and its impact on the youth. This is achieved through creating a recreation facility that has spaces for both physical and creative activities such as sports facilities, gyms, art, and yoga studios. It will be built near the residential sectors to make it more accessible for the users and in a naturally rich area which has a soothing and calming effect. The facility will also have spaces for parents and adults, who will accompany their children. The creation of such a facility will not only help youth in the development of a healthy lifestyle but also provide them with an opportunity to master skills and activities that can aid them in choosing better career options in their future. en_US
