dc.description.abstract In concrete construction, self-weight or dead load represents a large proportion of the total load on the structure, and considerable advantages and properties can be achieved by reducing density of concrete. So the use of light weight aggregate in construction is becoming popular all over the world. Thus, there is always realizing the need of study the various properties of light weight aggregate concrete and studying the relation with normal weight concrete. Our research aims to study of performance of light weight aggregate in comparison with normal weight aggregate. Light weight aggregate for entire research work was obtained from US Apparel and Textile (Pvt) Ltd, Lahore. This was actually a Denim factory and the light weight aggregate is being used there for washing purposes. The properties of concrete mix studied were compressive strength, flexural strength and modulus of elasticity. The following objectives were pursued in the accomplished of the proposed research work: - 1. Study and analyze the physical properties of light weight aggregate. 2. Design a suitable mix of light weight concrete giving high compressive strength at 28 days. 3. Study the performance of structural light weight concrete produced with reference to: -  Compressive strength  Flexural strength  Modulus of elasticity 4. Study and analyze the inter-relationship between the resultant values of above mentioned tests. en_US
