Abstract:
This work describes an Android application created as part of our Final Year Project that primarily serves to provide a finer version of reality. The application provides the highest level of locational guidance through intuition and interactivity. The application generates points of information (both generic and specific) to the interest of the user and intelligently guides him/her to the required location.
The architecture of the application is based on a simple client server system where client is android. The application makes use of online storage for maintaining the databases. Communication to different API’s is kept at all times for the smooth running of application including Facebook, Google maps and Wikipedia.
With a successful application in hand based on the extremely new and useful concept of Augmented Reality, we have achieved milestone for GIS before time. With the advent of 3G, the use of the application will be more widespread and handy. This explicit integration of GIS into Augmented Reality and business intelligence has been a rare or a rather neglected from the very beginning of this field to this day.
