dc.description.abstract Agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy. It contributes 25% to GDP and employed 42% of labor force. Wheat is a staple food in Pakistan whose annual consumption is around 124kg. Wheat donates 72% to daily intake of calories per capita in form of flour. To meet wheat demand in our country, a system needs to be established which can continuously monitor field to reduce human effort as agricultural sector uses 43% of labor force in our country. Keeping in view the situation, a project is designed with the objectives to (i) Develop a sensor system to monitor soil moisture, temperature and humidity of wheat field. (ii) Monitor wheat health through satellite imagery. (iii) Weather forecast of the field. (iv) Predict yield of wheat. Perfection and precision brings heavy cost to the developers of such technologically advanced systems. The greater the sophistication of system, the greater is the associated cost. An effort has been made to bring down the cost of this sophistication to the end user enabling not only larger economic output but also embedding different techniques and ideas of real time data acquisition for better decision making using GIS. The results have less human involvement thereby reducing errors. A GIS and RS based integrated system which will help farmers in monitoring their field remotely in an efficient way and also predicting yield approximately six weeks before harvest. Real time data is sent to remote server and ultimately information is provided to user in the form a website and an android application in local language. en_US
