dc.description.abstract Seismic hazard analysis is the study of seismic ground motion expected at a site of interest and its effects on natural and man-made structures. Results of the analysis are usually published as hazard maps indicating relative motion of different areas. The objectives of the study were to calculate probability of occurrence of potentially damaging seismic activity within a given time period using probabilistic modeling and to generate microzonation maps for return period of 100, 500, 1000 and 2500. CAPRA's CRISIS 2007 software which includes required models, Poisson Seismicity model along Ambraseys model, for the analysis was used. Shear wave velocity for upper 30 m (Vs30) was used for inclusion of local site effects at ArcGIS platform. Spectral period selected for microzonation map was peak ground acceleration (PGA). For rock foundation conditions eastern salt range shows higher seismicity comparing western and central salt range. It is recommended that structures in Salt range should be designed to cater ground motions after considering the local site effect using maps, especially map of return period with 500 years return period. en_US
