GEOSPATIAL PORTAL FOR TOURISM

Abstract

In the past few decades, every field has benefited from advancements in GIS and remote sensing. From small-scale projects to large-scale business management projects, there are diversified applications of GIS. However, Pakistan is still struggling with implementing better solutions related to GIS in different fields. Just like in many other countries, Tourism is playing an important role in the economy of Pakistan. Due to a lack of proper resources and guidance in the tourism spots, Pakistan is facing challenges to promote its tourism industry. Tourism plays an important role in raising the economy of a country especially when it is an underdeveloped country. It raises the living standards of people and increases job opportunities as well. Lack of proper management is another issue in the tourism industry that challenges tourists visiting the attraction spots. To solve the tourism issues in terms of helping users to know about the best tourist attractions, distance, time, and hostel recommendations, we have developed a Geospatial portal for tourism. We developed the system by implementing our knowledge of GIS into it. The Geospatial Portal For Tourism, using different REACT technologies and functionalities, plays an important role in solving the troubles of tourists by giving them the best routing, weather updates, and attractions based on their location. This project aims to improve the tourism industry of Pakistan by focusing on the main issues faced by tourists.
