dc.description.abstract Islamabad a city which has developed rapidly in short span of time, is confronting the tension between forces of globalization, and its impact on the local architecture and socio-cultural fabric of the city. Globalization is a process whose purpose was to integrate different nations through exchange of world views and ideas. But if we observe its implication in our local context, it has failed to address the socio cultural concern and has deprived Islamabad of its identity. Even architects today very often find themselves at the center of two opposing forces existing as a result of past or present contrasting cultures and architectures, along with their attendant values and methods of expression. In response to this there is a need for architecture which doesn't portray just mere images of west but which is deeply rooted in our culture, which has sustained us for generations. The idea of the project is birth of a school of thought that will practice the teachings based on the principles of Islamic architecture which will give architecture of Islamabad identity inspired from principle of past, which will inspire the future generation of architects to design accordingly. en_US
