dc.description.abstract Music is a form of art which breaks all boundaries based on social, cultural, regional and language differences. It is a medium which unites and brings together people from all walks of life, taking them on a journey of spirit and emotion. Since ancient times, music has been an integral part of any culture's identity. Likewise, the lndo-Pak subcontinent has its own history of regional music. This is currently evolving due to western influence, leading to a blend of regional and contemporary genres. Taking this amalgamation forward, the project aims to create spaces in which music of all types and forms can be taught, practiced, experienced, and displayed. Since music has both a communal as well as personal aspect attached to it, spaces which allow programs to merge as well as be carried out individually need to be explored. "Music, like architecture, is an immersive experience; it surrounds you. One can turn away from a painting or a work of sculpture, while music and architecture engulf the body in space." (Holl) en_US
