dc.description.abstract Society at times ceases to thrive due to neglect of the disadvantaged people of the society. An artificial divide formed by our patriarchal system, has placed men in productive role in the public arena and women in reproductive role in the private arena of home, leading to a low level of resource investment in women and thus low investment in women's human capital. Women form the basic unit of our society and can help in forming the foundation to a better society and a thriving community. As architects and facilitators, it's our social responsibility to create better places for people to prosper and live in. The main objective of this thesis is to propose a model architectural design that will facilitate an inclusive vocational centre for women providing a platform for them to develop and promote their skills. The centre would look at place making through socially interactive and gender-sensitive spaces by exploring how these form a space into a place and the role of third spaces as social learning spaces. The thesis would emphasize the importance of spaces for vocational education and training by exploring the narrative between multiple programs within the centre. By creating a dialogue with the site, its surroundings and the opportunities created through these spaces will enhance a richer cultural association to the area. These spaces will allow for women to get educated, get vocational training and sell their skills helping in fostering a community that can form into a larger framework leading to a self-sufficient community. en_US
