dc.description.abstract The current landscape of interactive architecture is built upon the convergence of embedded computation (intelligence) and a physical counterpart (kinetics) that simplifies adaption within the contextual framework of human and environmental interaction and in doing so it develops a sense of place and enhanced architectural awareness so that so the notion of building associations and developing connections of inhabitants, built and natural environments become inevitable thus generating the concept of Place-making in interactive architecture. Hence this project targets to research, exploit and create spaces which blend the virtual and physical realm together so that dynamic, flexible and adaptive architecture meets the constantly evolving social and environmental demands of people and communities. The rationale behind the project is to develop the lost sense of place amongst inhabitants and their built environments and restore the essence of architecture through multi-sensory and pragmatic experiences. With integration of new emerging technologies in architecture varying opportunities of user engagement and social interaction can be explored and invested in and this becomes the focus of the project along with the exploration of multi-sensory architecture which can unfold and manifest the essence of space and place together to develop connection between people and surroundings. Reviewing people's reaction, response and behavior on interacting with the built environment and adapting to reality of merging physical and virtual realm will further guide the projects direction. Synthesis and key findings underlining the acumens will eventually steer the designing process of project into an intelligent and interactive architecture designed for arranging, processing, and executing performances, where artists, performers and audiences can visit and explore the architecture tangibly and intangibly with a basic intent to engage the people in and responsive environment. The project will not only be a technologically sophisticated performing arts center but also a manifested reality drawn from the parallels of performance and architecture. It will give the stakeholders the opportunity of interacting with each other and the built and natural environment to develop a sense of place and association by endowing experiences from interactive architecture with intent to develop architecture into a multi-functional design, with spatial organization and contextual adaptability. en_US
