dc.description.abstract A drastic increase in on-road criminal activity has been observed over the past few years. With an already established wide network of roads and highways in Pakistan, and more being in the plans, it is imperative that we make roads safer to travel for people. Although we cannot accurately predict the occurrence of such events, we can try to mitigate them or possibly prevent them from happening. For this intended purpose, a research was conducted in aim to find a modern and smart technological based solution that would help achieve the set objectives. The study proposes an IoT integrated technological solution, “Emergency Response System for Road Safety E2(RS)” which allows a person, in a potentially life threatening situation, to call for help. The call sends an alert and it is displayed on an interactive web map to relevant authorities. Alert consists of a person’s geo-spatial information along with other personal registered data. Upon receiving the message, local authorities can timely dispatch rescue and emergency services to the targeted area. This not only reduces the response time but also allows effective allocation of resources. en_US
