Contemporary Architecture needs to correspond to time; to enhance spatial experience and
acknowledge human need for pleasure. This necessitates the interpretation of temporal
dimension of architecture.
The current nature of architecture is perceived as relatively permanent but it is innervated
to a certain degree by temporal parameters .The resulting instances are ephemeral but they
are responsible for experience of space. Present architecture should therefore, focus on
enhancing the spontaneity in space and soften the threshold between permanent and
temporary.
Furthermore, architecture should adhere to the concept of appropriation where space
corresponds to the needs of time. The thesis would look into the development of
architectural syntax controlling spatial dynamics to inform architectural expression.
Architectonics would act as controllable parameters triggering the resulting occurrences.
The exploration would put to experiment, the design of a Learn-scape for Film for
Lansdowne Property, near Saddar. The structure of Narrative would be explored to equate
time and architecture. It would provide insights about the issues of the narrative of
architecture.
Voids for Intervention would facilitate progression in narration. A stimulus response
relationship is envisaged tor architecture to assume different meanings at different times.
Time would act as stimulus for the learning of the proposed building.1
The thesis would help in development of temporal design parameters and explore their
relevance in the future scenarios. It would encourage architecture to bridge the gap of time
and space. |
