Abstract:
Theatre has always depended upon mobility for development, be it in terms of migration
(through the process of re-territorialization') or moving theatrical bodies. Such acts in history
have proved to be stimuli for exchange of ideas, hybridization and fusion.
The thesis sees Islamabad as a point of departure in the investigation of theatre's development
through the lens of mobility; a utilarian city where all culture has come due to the idea of
movement (migration).However, it is seen that the outcomes of the re-territorialization1
process are not registered in the city (especially in informal settings). This means there lays a
potential ready to be stimulated.
The thesis aims to stimulate theatre development through the process of re-territorialization;
creating fusion, mediation, hybridization
