Abstract

A society that has undergone undue angst needs to inculcate a sense of connectedness in order for its people to regrow. Humans tend to fall apart individually as well as collectively. A platform that helps bring them together under the supervision of nature not only acts as a means of positive recreation for the youth, but also for generations to come. This thesis involves the study of architecture providing a platform for the human interaction with nature, taking valley of Kohat which is in need of community hub for the social rejuvenation of the locals. To explore design In terms of the natural elements and to provide a hub for the locals to promote cultural and spend leisure time. This would diminish a sense of disparity amongst the classes by offering equal opportunities for all. Perhaps on a more subconscious level, it could acts as a road to an overall prosperous society. This thesis is about how nature molds up such activities within the society and vice versa. Architecture comes in to provide a platform for the amalgamation of the two: nature and humans. Frames provided with build structure and nature makes it a memory, effects on personal level which collects up to different perspective value to the space. Kohat also known as Kohat City is a town in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It is the Capital of the Kohat District. The town centers on a British-era fort, various bazaars and a military Cantonment (camp).With the past crisis of terrorism, the kohat valley has gone through the change Where they need to have public spaces and social areas to rejuvenate and create the prosperity with in Community and society. Due to globalization development is mainly focused on creating commercial areas and residential areas, Ignoring the social open areas or public areas. This is the cause of increase in denser town planning. The design of the community hub will assemble around the spaces that will be the picturesque Representation of Kohat and the architecture will provide a Platform for locals to relive their culture and Activities. Opportunities are required in terms of economic, social and cultural values to provide a balance society. By projecting an understanding between the Nature of the spaces, design form and forces of nature, relationship will be obtained with things and People allowing for a meaningful experience. The architecture will derive meaning form the local Context, site and the need of the people.
