dc.description.abstract The world today has become not only fast paced and expanding at an enormous rate but has made us all intolerant. The growing culture of impatience is prevalent throughout the world and specially in our country as well. In Pakistan, there are very few small scale platforms that tackle such issues or are adaptable to this growing need of the nation. Hence, there is an urgent need to provide a more possibly up-and-coming solution that can counter censure and cultural debate in the still poorly-explored field of architecture and the urban fabric. The debate is that architects, more resourcefully than intellectuals and scholars, can avoid the distressing fierceness generated by the confrontation of divide based on race, religion, state and society etc. There is a need for architecture to play it role as providing a united ground for freedom of speech, expression and promotes the cross fertilization of ideas for people from all walks of life. The site chosen in Shakarparian, Islamabad sets the scene for such a building, Tolerance Center. The quality of space needed and the varied user group influx is boosted by the design of this building. The design of the entire center depicts the aim of bring everyone down together and unifying whole Hence, this thesis itself is an exploration of an architectural response where all differences are kept out and ambience is taken inside. The diverse user group enters into another common world and carries out their journeys through various spaces. The sacredness of space is enhanced via the use of light and the experiential quality offered being the common ground for all to connect and participate in the activities conducted. en_US
