dc.description.abstract Pakistan is only atomic power in the Muslim world. Since the day Pakistan emerged as first Muslim atomic power, whole world is keeping an eye on us. Especially India, Israel, America and Russia are continuously trying to create internal instability in Pakistan, operation in Sawat, Wazirustan and Agencies is an example of that. Suicide attacks on check posts, especiall in G-7 sector Islamabad and other such important places forced us to design such check posts to guard against IEDs and to save many precious lives. IEDs are the weapon of choice for terrorist organizations throughout the world, because they employ lethal and unconventional means against targets that attract media attention, have propaganda value and expose vulnerabilities in the security. Moreover, these devices are inexpensive easy to procure/manage and offer cheap means for terrorist organizations to attack superior forces not only on the Battle field but also in the urban areas. Consequently, this fits well in the Terrorist Strategy, because it is globally, regionally and locally transferable in term of material and know how by miscreants. Terrorist Cells throughout the world have successfully executed high profile IED attacks, despite the adoptaion of effective security measures. Now a days about 70% terrorist activities are based on these devices, besides other modes like kidnapping, hijacking and murder etc. These devices, in the hands of terrorists provide them maximum advantages with least efforts and varying risk. Extremists have been using these devices to create panic, destabilize economy, expose country’s vulnerability with respect to security and reduce public confidence in the Government with a view to achieve their own designs and objects. The blast pressures have been calculated using CONWEP software and design has been carried out using SAP2000 v10. en_US
