Challenges in Construction Industry of Pakistan

Abstract

The construction industry is the second largest industry of the country. It makes a significant contribution to the national economy and provides employment to large number of people. The use of various new technologies and deployment of project management strategies has made it possible to undertake projects of mega scale. Recent experiences of several new mega-projects are clear indicators that the industry is poised for a bright future. In its path of advancement, the industry has to overcome a number of challenges such as safety, national economy, corruption and malpractices, inefficient and ineffective methodologies and techniques and many others. The purpose of this research is to identify, highlight and draw attention to the challenges, as viewed by respondents, with the help of questionnaire based research and suggesting remedial measures to fight against these challenges. Finally the data through the questionnaires was collected, interpreted and then presented in the form of pie charts showing the relative opinion of people associated with construction industry of Pakistan
