Abstract:
The number of cars on roads has increased dramatically over the last few years. This
phenomenon has brought with it, associated problems of traffic congestion, parking,
accidents and crime. Therefore the availability of car parking is a significant contributory
factor on travel decision making.
To solve the above stated problem we have carried out the study of multi-storey car parks in
Pakistan. First of all a congested site was selected in Rawalpindi, the relevant data was
collected from different departments. After this step a final architectural plan was developed
using Auto CAD, keeping in view provisions for the present and future requirement of car
spaces. The authenticity of structural design was verified by ETABS. Physical model and 3-D
animation were also prepared. It was estimated that the structure will provide for its capital
cost within 15 operational years.
