Abstract:
This project is an IoT based intelligent Manufacturing Execution system that brings
industry 4.0 to one of our local textile industries, i.e., Crescent Bahuman Ltd (CBL). The project
aims to automate the textile industry using intelligent IoTs. Textile industry in Pakistan
contributes to about $3.5 billion exports annually, however the industry is facing setbacks due
to lack in technological advancements. The fourth industrial revolution offers an expected
reduction in costs of around 3.6% across all sectors along with a 30% drop in maintenance costs
due to predictive maintenance scheduling, which serves as the prime motivation behind this
project. The methodology followed for the implementation of this MES is to install IoTs with
the washing and drying machines at CBL, use the gathered data, specifically their current
profiles, to identify the faults which have been causing hindrance in regular operation.
Furthermore, we will analyze these faults along with the manual techniques being used to
regulate them, predict possible faults in the future using Machine Learning and then finally
create Dashboards that individually cater to the access requirements of the machine operators,
shop-floor manager, and the executives of the company. Only using temperature & humidity
sensors, machine status and their current waveform profiles, we will be providing a real time
automatic solution to control the machine, analyze the faults and predict faults that may occur
in the future to take necessary precautions in due course.
