Abstract:
Continuous monitoring of respiration is very crucial for medical diagnosis and treatments. It is
very useful to measure breathing rate and breathing activity since diseases like APNEA, the
sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and the obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
Nowadays, breathing rate is monitored using impedance pneumography (IP) method, and
polysomnography. Both these methods are connected that means respiration activity is
monitored by connecting the electrodes to the body of the patient. These conventional methods
also require constant monitoring of the doctor in front of the patient which is hectic.
The traditional methods also fail in case of Parkinson patients, neonates, burn victims, people
irritated to contact and especially in the time of viral diseases like COVID, the connected
methods are totally not feasible to use.
What we have developed is respiration monitoring contactlessly through infrared ultra-wide
band radar technology. This technology enables us monitoring the respiration of the patient
contactlessly by measuring the distance of patient lungs from the radar. Moreover, thatdata of
the patient (respiration signals and respiration rate) will be available to the remote doctor
anytime anywhere through real time cloud technology. the doctor can be connected to his
patient just through his cell phone. The doctor will be informed instantly in case of any
emergency.
