The fundamental concepts of Ferrocement, Design and
Analysis of structures were three different fields which were
taken into account during this study. Since there are only very
few works on the Ferrocement water tanks done prior to this in
Pakistan, the details of which are also not known therefore this
book will be the only source of information for any one who
wants to do some work in the field.
I have tried my best to include all the practical aspects of the
work in the descriptive as well as illustrative form so that a
student of an under graduate level can easily understand the very
basic terms what I mean.
In this first edition I have tried my best to include all the
things that I have done and also all the things that I wanted to do
but I could not manage and the things that I did wrong.
This work is also aimed at being a descriptive manual for
any amateur (even if he is not engineer) who wants to make his
own Ferrocement water tank based on my design.
The idea was to make a water tank for remote areas of
Pakistan where local population can not afford expensive means
for storage of drinking water. So economy of the project was
given prime importance. But since nothing was done before, the
work emerged as a research oriented work and out of many
design proposals made for economical solution the best is
considered in this publication. Population of remote areas may
be benefited from i |
