It is a common sight in the city of Lahore to see laborers and beggars including
other people on the roadsides, sleeping in open air without any shelter or privacy
involved. The majority of these people are laborers or people from rural areas that
have come to the city to find work for supporting their families. They have nowhere
to spend their nights in, these people are struggling every day to find work and to
get good sleep at night. Pakistan with a population of 207.8 million is believed to be
the fifth most populous country in the world. According to the statistics, 20 million
people are homeless in Pakistan. Observing this major issue encouraged me in
finding more about the causes for sleeping on roads and how my field of study can
play a vital role in helping solve this issue. |
